Aline-Cleo holds January meeting

Members of the Aline-Cleo School Board met for their regular monthly meeting Jan. 6, with members Brian Ryel, Leroy Ramey and Kolby Thomas present.

The meeting was called to order at 7 p.m. and first order of business was approving the minutes of the Dec. 2, 2020 regular meeting.

Approval of the 2021-22 school calender followed and Superintendent Barry Nault told the members the calendar follows the current calendar the school district is using this year.

Members then voted to accept the resignation of High School Custodian Melany Madrid.

An emergency transfer for a student transfer to another school was approved.

General Fund encumbrances 104-106 and 70057-70061 in the amount of $30,840.30; Building Fund encumbrances 36-37 in the amount of $5,350.79; Child Nutrition Fund encumbrance #5 in the amount of $1,000; and Building Bond Fund encumbrances 8-9 in the amount of $9,511.39 were approved.

During the Superintendent’s Report, Mr. Nault told board members the storage building at the elementary in Cleo Springs is nearing completion. Among items needed before the project is officially wrapped up are installing the garage door and ramp construction.

At a prior meeting, board members approved purchasing a vacant house near the elementary to help with creating additional parking space. Mr. Nault told board members the house has now been demolished and rock will be hauled in to finish out the parking project.

A company approved by the board to install electrical service at the newly completed bus barn at the high school in Aline, never arrived and Mr. Nault told board members Harmon Electric was hired to finish the project.

During construction of the new classroom addition at the high school, as well as construction of the bus barn, the high school parking lot received quite a few holes. Mr. Nault told board members rock is scheduled to be hauled in to help level up the parking lot.

Mr. Nault told board members the district still has one teacher vacancy at the elementary to fill.

After going over monthly financial reports, the meeting adjourned. Next regularly scheduled board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 3 in the library at the high school in Aline.
