Farmerettes hold February meeting
Farmerettes Home & Community Education Group met on February 4, 2021, after missing two monthly meetings because of Covid. Elisa Crowder was hostess. Roll Call, “What Olympic Sport do you enjoy watching?” was answered by: Lynetta Cressler , Sharon LaRue, Tammi Miller, Pauline Trissell, Pat Marzolf, Loretta Sharp, Nancy Lambert and Marguerite McMurtrey.
Cressler, vice-president, presided in the absence of the president. She led the group in the Salute to the American Flag, Morzolf, secretary, read the minutes of the last meeting and Lambert, treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report. Both were approved.
Trissell presented the lesson, “Don’t Just Sit There – Get Fit While You Sit!” She stressed that exercise is important for strength and flexibility for all ages. Sedentary lifestyles can cause many health problems. Improving strength through exercise is essential to being able to do activities necessary for daily living. She demonstrated several easy exercises targeted for different parts of the body, stressed stretching and proper deep breathing.
During the business meeting, Sharp reported the next Cherokee Community Blood Drive would be February 25, 2021, at the Fairgrounds Exhibit Building from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Plans were made for the drive, with members volunteering to make sandwiches, check in donors, serve in the canteen and call donors if needed.
2021 yearbooks were then distributed and filled out with those attending volunteering to give lessons and host meetings. Additional planning will be done later.
There will be a virtual State OHCE Leader Training on February 18. We have been invited by Major County to attend this in person at Fairview. Pre-register by Monday, February 8, for either in-person or virtual at the OSU Extension Office.
District OHCE meeting will be Friday, March 26, 2021, and will be virtual. Major County has again invited us to join them in person. Registration for this meeting is due February 18 at the OSU Extension Office.
Date for the Alfalfa County Spring Association Meeting will be announced later.
Farmerettes will meet March 4 with Marguerite McMurtrey as hostess. Lesson will be “Fostering Kindness”.
Meeting adjourned with Lynetta Cressler winning the hostess gift.
