OTC releases February tax numbers
The February distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from December business.
The monies they reported this period represent sales from December 16 to 30 and estimated sales from January 1 to January 15.
The February breakdown is as follows:
The disbursement of $166,192,753 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $3,588,555 from the $162,604,198 distributed to the cities and towns in February last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $34,935,528.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $27,066,936 sales tax disbursement and a $6,146,640 use tax disbursement.
Six of the eight county towns collecting sales tax saw an increase while the rest saw decreases.
The following are the sales tax figures for each community, 2021 is listed first and the same time period for 2020, followed by the totals for 2021:
• Aline, $11,562, $2,243, for an increase of $9,319, for a total of $18,591 in 2021.
• Burlington, $805, $673, for an increase of $132 for a total of $1,624 in 2021.
• Byron, $639, $234, for an increase of $405, for a total of $1,005 in 2021.
• Carmen, $3,542, $9,061, for a decrease of $5,519, for a total of $7,665 in 2021.
• Cherokee, $56,589, $56,099, for an increase of $490, for a total of $104,434 for 2021.
• Goltry, $15,332, $1,680, for an increase of $13,652, for a total of $27,292 in 2021.
• Helena, $11,461, $26,803, for a decrease of $15,342, for a total of $23,555 in 2021.
• Jet, $3,246, $2,323, for an increase of $923, for a total of $6,075 in 2021.
Alfalfa County, collections for 2020 were $173,300 and the figure has decreased to $109,549 for a decrease of $63,751 from the same time period last year. The county has collected $214,379 for all of 2021.
Use Tax
Use tax collections were increases for all of the six towns whom collect use tax.
Use tax collections returned and last year’s figures follow:
• Aline, $5,272, $1,450, for an increase of $3,822.
• Carmen, $1,935, $1,636 for an increase of $299.
• Cherokee, $16,476, $10,428, for an increase of $6,048.
• Goltry, $3,648, $1,433, for an increase of $2,215.
• Helena, $2,773, $2,124, for an increase of $649.
• Jet, $1,876, $1,234, for an increase of $642.
Alfalfa County as a whole saw an increase of $11,674 from $22,500 in 2020 to $34,224 in 2021.
