Old Moser Gas Station demolished
The old Moser gas station on Main Street of Carmen has been demolished this week. The property was donated to the city. Plans are to construct a fire station in the future.
Pool Opening Soon
Pool manager Ashley Perryman reported the projected opening date of the pool is May 29. The pool will be open every day except Wednesday with night swim on Tuesday and Thursday. Lifeguards are trained and work is being completed on the pool.
Here And There
The Book Babes Book Club went to Pawhuska as a field trip after reading “Killers of the Flower Moon”. They enjoyed seeing the historical places and seeing the construction of the area where the movie will be filmed. Those attending were: Marcia Brown, Jane Harris, Paula Fuqua, Nancy Oldham, and Margaret Goss.
Sympathy is extended to the family of Polly Wentworth Stanley. Polly was a long-time resident whose family ran the Wentworth Mortuary many years. Her service was at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 20 at the Christian Church.
No noon dinner will be held at the After 55 this month.
VBS Meeting Set
A community Vacation Bible School is being planned for the summer. A meeting will be held to organize the event at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, June 6 at the Christian Church in Carmen.
They will need teachers, craft leaders, recreation leaders and kitchen help. Anyone willing to help is asked to attend the meeting or contact Lori Perryman.
Virtual Story Hour
The Carmen Library is once again holding Virtual Story Hour and is distributing bags for the youth in the community. Stop by the library to get a bag for the kids. There is an excellent selection of books for youth. Students should keep up their reading skills during the summer.
Road Construction Continues
The new road is progressing with curbs set and one layer of asphalt on the north side to the two-mile corner. Preparation work is being done for the sidewalks downtown. The new road will be a great asset to the town and will improve appearance downtown.
