The ornament tradition

BY KARLIE HEATHERMAN

Burlington staff and students started a tradition a few years ago that involved decorating the school Christmas tree with handmade ornaments.

Pre-K through 12th grade are invited to decorate one ornament per class. The seventh grade made one that has a COVID theme, which is a great theme for this year. Other ornaments were made out of metal using the plasma cutter, popsicle sticks, class pictures, a giant pine cone and lots of glitter. This is a great way for the classes to have a little fun and get into the spirit of Christmas. All of our classes enjoy this tradition and hope we keep it for a long time.

The ornament made by the 7th grade class for Burlington’s school Christmas tree makes light of the situation this year, listing “Covid”, “Virus” and “Fever” among the classmates.

Mrs. Graham’s 1st grade class proudly presents their handmade Christmas ornament for the school Christmas tree. At the back from left are: Cooper Callison, Aiden Dayton Thomason, Blaze Pedersen and Mrs. Anne Graham. In the front are: Henry German, Dax Kisling, Ian McNett, Ayden Fluman, Claire Pray and Gretchen Rockenbach.
