Jessie Elaine Whitely

Jessie Elaine Whitely, Cherokee, passed away Oct. 16 at Integris Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was born to the late Eli Bailey and Jessie Ashlock Nov. 28, 1951 in Cherokee.

Elaine attended Cherokee High School and obtained her GED from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva where she also attended college.

She married Gary Don Whitely July 13, 1970 in Miami. They made their home in Cherokee and had one son, Gary Dean.

Together Gary and Elaine had many business in Cherokee, G&G Plumbing and the Katy Inn Motel.

Elaine enjoyed many hobbies including shopping, dancing, farming and spending time with her grandchildren.

She’s preceded in death by her parents, Eli Bailey and Les and Jessie Ashlock.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, her son, Gary Dean and wife, Jamie, Cherokee; 11 grandchildren, Shyla and Chris Frost, Ty and Hayleigh Whitely, all of Cherokee; Jacob Locke, Hooker; Halea Lock, Stillwater; Kaleb and Mae Nevel and Haley Wade all of Cherokee; three great grandchildren, Carly Frost, Kayzen Lock and Rhett Whitely.

A family memorial service is pending. Elaine requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to ZuDHi Transplant in Oklahoma City in her name.

A memorial fund has been established in her name at Alfalfa County Bank, Cherokee.
