Jerry Robert Blevins
Jerry Robert Blevins was born on Nov. 10, 1940, in Amortia, the son of Robert Hugh Blevins and Vinita A (Holden) Blevins. Vinita died when Jerry was 18 months old. Robert married Opal Winans when Jerry was 4 years old. Opal was the only mother Jerry knew.
He passed from this life on Nov. 28, 2021 at the age of 81 years in Kiowa, Kan. Jerry was raised in Amorita and graduated from Attica High School in 1958.
Jerry married Victoria A (Doherty) Blevins on July 30, 1960 in Cherokee. They made their home in Kiowa and Jerry worked for Wheatland Service.
To this union, two children were born: Cheris M (Blevins) Coggins and E. Robert “Bob” Blevins. They moved to Wichita, Kan. in 1964, where he worked for KT Oil and Fina.
Jerry spent most of his life working in the refined fuel, oil, and propane industry. He started his own small business in 1972, in Amorita.
In 1978, Jerry and Vicki diversified their small business to Kiowa, later selling the Amorita business to focus on Kiowa and Anthony, Kan.
Jerry was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Kiowa Lions Club, Cosmos Lodge #278, Kansas and Oklahoma Propane Associations, and various others.
Jerry loved going fishing, hunting, spending time with family, working his yard, tending his goats, and working at the ranch.
He kept a daily journal of happenings in his life and with his family, which the family will cherish forever.
Jerry was proceeded in death by Vinita A (Holden) Blevins, Robert H. and Opal Blevins, and Edward and Dorothy Doherty.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria of the home; daughter, Cheris M. Coggins and husband, Charles L. Coggins, Anthony, Kan.; son, E. Robert Blevins and wife, Kim A. Blevins, Kiowa, Kan.; his siblings, Judy (Carl) Martin, Texas; John (Connie) Blevins, Kan., Jim (Beverly) Blevins, Okla., Jack (Jenett) Blevins, Okla.; five grandchildren, Tyler (Kelsi) Blevins, Kan.; Blake (Margo) Harris, W. Va., Hope (Brett) Foltz, Kan.; Christopher Coggins, Mo., and Caitlin Coggins, Kan.; five great-grandchildren, Addison and Tucker Blevins, Kan.; Ava and Mack Foltz of Kan., and Elle Harris, W. Va.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Kiowa, Kan..
Viewing will be 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., Thursday with family present from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.
